Mike Kersten spent 32 years in the United States Air Force — six as an enlisted Airman, 26 as a commissioned officer. He retired in 2026 as a Colonel after serving as a Medical Service Corps Officer and Hospital Administrator, with assignments spanning Japan, Germany, Turkey, Alaska, and across the continental U.S.
His family completed 11 PCS moves. Like most military families, they started out renting. That changed in 2003 at Eglin Air Force Base, when a Realtor friend showed them how homeownership could build wealth instead of just paying rent. That decision changed everything — and became the foundation for Elevate PCS.
